The sodium hypochlorite chemical storage tanks along with their associated piping and chemical metering pumps are utilized in the final effluent disinfection process at the Alvarado Wastewater Treatment plant.  The tanks have surpassed their expected useful life and the pumps have deteriorated due to the corrosive characteristic of the chemical.  Due to the critical nature of the process, replacement of the tanks and pumps is necessary in order to maintain a reliable final disinfection system.  The project will replace the sodium hypochlorite chemical storage tanks, metering pumps and piping.
